Warehouse IT Support: 30 Access Points and a Scan-Gun Rollout for a Same-Day Parts Operation
Managed IT services case study: 30 Aerohive access points and a scan-gun deployment for a large same-day parts warehouse, told by Joe Pennel of Netcosa.
Client: Large Warehouse Built Around Same-Day Parts Fulfillment
Joe Pennel, President of Netcosa, counts a warehouse Wi-Fi and scan-gun deployment among the larger projects on his case-study list. It is the kind of work behind warehouse IT support and managed IT services for logistics operations: getting wireless coverage across a whole building so the people and scanners inside it stay connected.
The client, as Joe describes it, was a large warehouse built around same-day parts fulfillment. In his words, it was “like a massive warehouse,” where you “order a part same day” and can “have it delivered to you.”
Challenge: Wireless Coverage for a Whole Facility
The job was wireless coverage for the entire building: in Joe’s words, getting “that whole thing lit up.”
That meant two jobs in one project: build the wireless network, and deploy the scan guns that would run on it.

Response: 30 Access Points, Scan Guns, and a Lift
The work came down to four pieces:
- Wireless build-out. The deployment put 30 wireless access points into the facility.
- Access-point platform. The access points were Aerohive.
- Cabling and a lift. The building had to be cabled, and the job required bringing in a lift.
- Scan-gun deployment. The scan guns were part of the same project scope.
Joe summarizes the scope in one breath:
“That was a WiFi project. Thirty access points and scan gun deployment.”
— Joe Pennel, President, Netcosa
Outcome: What the Project Covered
30
wireless access points deployed in a large same-day parts warehouse
- 30 wireless access points, Aerohive hardware
- Scan-gun deployment included in the project scope
- Cabling work that required bringing in a lift
Joe cites the project as an example of “larger-scale projects.”
Netcosa’s warehouse IT support covers the same ground: wireless coverage for large facilities, scanner connectivity, and the managed IT services that keep both running.
